Well the painting is pretty much done.  I still have to do an anti-glare panel and the NMF intake and exhaust areas, but I'll do the NMF last.  I wont be in a hurry to do another like this!!  Much as I love RR, it was a bit of a pain.  I hate painting white as it is, and with the slightest overspray sticking out like a sore thumb there was quire a bit of touchup to do.  It's still not perfect, but I have to work all day Sunday, so for this one-weeker it will have to do.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

The two Mig 21s that defected to the west in 1976 made their way to the UK under extreme secrecy.  Both were initially sent to the Aeroplane & Armament Experimental Establishment at Boscombe Down for evaluation.  While the single-seat Mig-21MF remained with the A&AEE, serving in many roles, including Dissimilar Air Combat Training, the two-seat Mig 21UM was tranferred to the Empire Test Pilot's School, also at Boscombe, in late 1978.  In 1984 the single seater joined the two seater at ETPS when the RAF and USAF formed a joint (and highly secret) Agressor Squadron flying ex-Soviet hardware at Nellis AFB in the US.

In British service the two Mig-21s were officially known as Cossack F.1 and Cossack T.2.  Both were retired from ETPS in late 1997.

I cant say I'm 100% happy with the pics, so I'll probably take a few more tomorrow night, but these will do for now.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Pretty.  The Mig looks good in Raspberry Ripple.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Just catching up with this now. Top notch stuff! If I live to be 100 I'll never make a pit as good as that. Mind you, if I live to be 100 I'll probably be dribbling away in a corner smelling of wee wee...

(so no change there then )

Raspberry Ripple!!!!

Never could have imagined how good a MiG would look in ripple...until now, of course.

Fantastic job, all around.  This is going to stand out on your shelf!
