BABYLON 5 : The last of the Babylon projects.

Being a devoted fan of the series, I was thrilled when I heard of Revell/Monogram brought out both the Station and a StarFury....On looking at the box of the Station, realised it was too short at the cylinder section. Apparently, the staff who designed the prototype model had never watched the TV series! They probably used the box art, which shows the station at an angle. Well, I bought two models of the Station, using cylinder parts to lengthen the model. Once I was sure of it's correct length, the 'back bone' has to be extended also...the extra decals came in handy as well!

The Starfury is a nice little kit, too. It takes some work to get it right. I happen to have two sets of the corrected resin guns, but no Starfuries to go with them

I found the starfury to be one of the worst kits I have ever built...in fact, so bad, that it impacted a wall at warp 3 about two years ago. Hard to believe that such a large manufacturer could get so much so wrong. Still have the pieces.

It was an annoying kit... especially after spending a lot of time filling in the ridiculous gap near the wing leading edges, only to later find out that it was supposed to be there. Doh!

To Revell's defense, it is a pretty complex shape, especially near the wing to fuselage areas.

Yeah, you try scratch building a 1/35 sc model StarFury, using the Revell model as a template?

It had crossed my mind, the main thing that stopped me was the size. The good news would be that there are a lot of B5 Fanatics out there who have TV stills and references to help you...just have to add a new room to my house and i will get started!
Star Furies look great, and i think you could have a great looking What-if ship as long as you retained the basic layout and that distinct cockpit...could add different engines, wings, weapons, etc and it would still look pretty sweet.
