Hey Guys,

So the other night I went hunting around on my backup drive & rediscovered my unfinished stash of back stories. After flipping thru a few of em I decided that I could use the creative exercise. . . starting with this little gem:

Now then, to the meat of the matter. . . Was there any international conflicts or skirmishes that Canada was (or could have become) involved in during the '70s & '80s? I want to add a lil spice to the operational history but I'm drawing a blank.

There was the FLQ crisis of October 1970 which resulted from militant Quebec separatists kidnapping two people, one a British diplomat.

Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau refused to negotiate with the kinappers and activated the War Measures Act in Quebec, essentially puting martial law in place to capture the kidnappers. You might be able to weave it into that.

You can find out more about it here:

As Canada had bases in Germany during the Cold War, you could always just station it over there on a normal deployment as a FAC aircraft. To supplement the F-104s and later the CF-18s.

Of course, Canada has always been very involved in UN peace keeping operations, so perhaps you could find a couple of UN emblems to stick on it and place it in any peace keeping situation Canada was involved in in the time frame you're looking at.

Hope that helps

We had a long peace keeping stint in Cyprus which got a bit hot. Rwanda was very nasty, all we really had there were observers, but things could be different in our universe.

Thx for the info guys, the model itself is set as a part of a Verret detachment assigned to the RCAFs contribution to NATO in the early '80s, based in West Germany. I was just fishin' for some ideas to enrich the story a tad.
