OK so i just finished Stephen Baxter's Voyage book  whilst i was up at hollybush during the last two weeks about the lost mission to mars :banghead: and with the recent relaunch of the Airfix Saturn 5  i decided to model the Ares stack in both its launch from the Jacqueline b. Kennedy space Centre and a second with the trans mars injection stack with the big tanks and trans-orbit engine  which the ares launch stack docks with.
first will be the crew and lander launch stack a upgrade of the Saturn v but with a few enhancements as given in the book such as 4 srb etc  but I need a good build guide for the Saturn v if anybody knows a good guide showing a build and painting guide

Hey Lenny, did you ever finish this?

(I'm reading Voyage at the moment and happened to come across this thread)

no never got around to it due to lack of parts never found another 1/144 scale shuttle going cheep at a show , a full price one just for the two srb is a bit of a no no due to finance  , but its on the back of the shelf awaiting restart if i ever get the parts, the main body of the rocket is at the moment a launcher for a project to destroy incoming asteroids with a 1000 megaton bomb! "real project from 1965"

I quite enjoyed the book. I should have guessed what was going to happen when they finally landed, but as it unfolded I did have a smile on my face when I realised what was happening.
Interesting build.
