Several years ago I did the following designs with pencil and paper, scanned them, and put them online. I had intended to do more like this, but I lost the originals in the move. The designation AE-XX is because they were designed by a fictional Aircraft Manufacturing company named "American Eagle" for use in a Champions (superheroes) game. Aviation technology was to have been more advanced in some ways and less-so in others.

The AE-13 was intended to be an air racer, and was inspired by the Caproni Stipa.

The AE-24 was intended to be a contender for the P-38's job.
Powered by a cylindrical diesel engine with opposed pistons driving swashplates,
it was supposed to be one of the fastest planes in the air in 1941 (in the fictional setting).
Later I was going to develop a jet-propelled version.

The AE-28 was a ducted-fan 1/10th-scale prototype for an early sort of WIG-type aircraft

Not older than dirt but remembers when it was still under warranty.

I really like those drawings, Sarge! The AE13 Speed Master III is particularly sweet, espcially those gorgeous spats!

Good stuff! I love that second one. Looks like a prop-driven Vampire or Venom. Those tail booms are just crying out to have a couple of heavy cannons in the front ends...
