Gorgeously horrid ;D Delightfully abysmal   Your finish work is super especially considering the (re)learning curve and the adventures you had with the decals   Encore  ;D

I think you've done excellent work there Sequoiaranger! I especially like those vey cool Kiwi markings! I bet lots of folks would think this aircraft was real due to the very believable configuration and how well you've executed the modifications and the markings and paint job.

I think the main thing is that this should be fun. When it gets to the point that it's not fun, that's the time to wrap up a project, even if it has flaws. I admit all my builds have mistakes, some more apparent than others. I try to take these as lessons learned for the next go-round.

I hope you continue to enjoy working on projects and keep sharing them with us, even if they seem flawed to your eyes.

I took advice to diminish the "blocky" effect of the Mad Cow "poster". So I wrote "Mad Cow" on the decal. (sigh) Of course on the left side of the fuselage (and I'm right-handed) the wing got in the way of writing and I had to write from far back on the pen (limiting my penmanship), so that side is not as good as the side I'm presenting here.

However, it seems to me that writing "Mad Cow" on the "poster" did the trick to "balance" the image. Whaddyathink?

PS..BdaB--Nah worries mate! This was fun; I had many chuckles along the way. My next project is near-ready to paint (the Jinpu-Kai that I have had on hold while I completed the Avatar). Once that is done (next month) I will take a break and allow the "crafts room" to be used by my spouse. I'll start up another whif project (Aichi/Heinkel 119) sometime next year. I'm not going away anytime soon. This whiffing stuff is too much fun, and you guys are a great bunch with whom to associate.

I have always loved your kit bashes. This is a great build I love it!

I have a 4 engined He 111 inspired from your effort of a couple of years ago which is languishing in the stalled catagory. I should pull it out and have another bash.

>It's nice, although I think it'd be rather underpowered.<

Yes, for a "combat" aircraft over enemy territory, but not for its rather pedestrian duties as a beach-strafer over home turf (or surf). A 1400-1600 hp Hercules engine from a Wellington or somesuch should be able to pull the plane through the air fairly well. An inspiration for the Avatar (as well as a source of its engine/cowling), the Vickers Wellesley (see pic below) of 1935-39 was an immense plane, and had only a 925hp engine.

The Wellesley is certainly a good candidate for turning into a WHIF mail carrier by removing the forward canopy and windscreen and turning that into the cargo section for passengers, mail, and freight.  The panniers mounted under the wings could be retained as auxiliary fuel tanks or relegated to the spare parts bin.

They seem like they would make excellent mail pods to me.
It's a crappy self-made pic of a Lockheed Unmanned Combat Armed Rotorcraft (UCAR), BTW

Looks good! I envy you guys who do stuff in three dimensions, but I have no place to put completed projects that aren't single sheets of 8 1/2 X 11.
Not older than dirt but remembers when it was still under warranty.

Craig, I think it looks great! The decal came out good and it's an excellent job after 15 years away from the hobby.
