..and what a nice surprise ! A specially marked Griffon was out on the ramp...followed shortly thereafter by a second one ! One took off for a brief flight...so I got a few pics of her coming and going.

I didn't realise the Canadian Hueys were called Griffons... is this related to the fact that  the RAF training machines are called Griffins?

I think they stole their name from us, but being as they have trouble grasping proper CDN English, they spelled it wrong !



Both choppers are pretty cool looking, tho.....

The CAF was using the Griffon quite a few years (1998 I think) before the RAF got them (2003)  The Canadian ones are built in Canada at Mirabel, the RAF ones are probably AgustaWestland built.

I think the British ones are all Canadian built too. the RAF don't even own them, they're civilian owned, military operated (COMR), how about this for a Canadian Griffon...
