After seeing Captain Canada's post with pics of aircraft in my old hometown of Edmonton, Alberta I decided to see if I could locate at least one or two pics I took during frequent visits to Edmonton's municipal airport.

I did manage to find a couple of scans of one of the more exotic visitors to the airport in the late 90s:

It was sitting behind the Spar Aerospace hangar so I guess they had some contract to do some work for the Maxican air force Hercs.

Sweet......it would be kinda neat to find out just how many countries they service. CDN, Greek, Yankee, and  Mexican for sure, but who else ?

I thought municipal was the one on Kingsway ? Or was Spar there back in the day ?

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !

Yes the municipal is the one on Kingsway. Spar did have a facility there at the time, not sure if it has since been moved out and conglomerated with the facility at the international though.

The municipal got real quiet after regular regional airlines shut down or moved away. I remember growing up watching CP, PW and later Canadian Airlines long pod 737s flying out of there regularly. Time Air Dash 8s and Air BC Jetstream 31s and BAe 146s were also pretty regular. Twas a busy place back in the day.

As for Hercs, I believe both the Aussies and Kiwis bring theirs up to Spar anytime they need cold weather related gear and service. I also saw a USCG Herc at the international once or twice. Not sure if it was stopping for fuel or had business with Spar.

Earlier this year I was at the International and saw the Spar Hanger there, but more interesting for me at the time was looking over a stack of F-18 (I think) drop tanks all in open crates across the road from the hanger.

I'll bet those are both former Canadian Airlines birds. I used to see those arctic fitted 737s coming into the municipal in Canadian's colours quite regularly.
