Wondering if anyone knows of who might put out sheets of generic squadron codes and roundels etc for RAF aircraft of the fifties. If anyone does 56 Squadron even better. I'm looking at maybe doing one of my Supermarine Swifts as an Operation Musketeer example.

Thanks!

Whilst I can't be specific, Xtradecal does a lot of RAF subjects, including a run of Hunters which may very well be a good source for the decals you need.

Thanks Mav! Just did a search and it looks like sheet X72065 will have the letters and numbers.

Ratty, if all else fails i have a set from a DH venom that should fit the bill, or at least be in the region somewhere - lemme know if you want them!

Speaking of Venoms & Vampires, Eurodecals did a sheet on the Venom in RAF service as well 'ED72-105'.  They call it "Venom in UK Air Arm Service" 'cause of that whole MoD UK BS about not being allowed to use the name, etc.

I'm also on the lookout for any clear pictures of 56 Squadron Swifts. I have one poor quality b&w that seems to indicate that the squadron's red and white checkerboard was on their wingtips, but it ain't much for detail. The web doesn't seem to be much help. Oh, and those yellow and black stripes that were painted on for Operation Musketeer, anyone know if they were crisply defined or quick slap-dash jobs like D-Day stripes?

Rat,

The black-yellow stripes for the Suez Crisis depended on the unit as far as I can see.

Some of the Transports, Valettas particularly, look as if they were painted by a bunch of guys with yard brushes at the run! On the other hand the Canberras flying out of Cyprus could have been done by the Rolls-Royce paint shop on a good day.

I guess you could dig your own path with the Swift.
