DRB feature about incredible Doll's Houses:

Now my first reaction was to put this in Everyday Chat on the grounds that "that's not modelling; that's doll's houses", but on reflection, that's utterly, utterly illogical. Somebody has made these miniature things beautifully and with great skill: it damn well IS modelling by any reasonable definition of the word.....

That IS some serious skill at work there!  :o

I think the doll house "floor" between the bookshelves is a really neat idea!

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Some "Dolls House" furniture is more expensive then the real stuff. Amazing workmanship in some of them. I think back in the 18thC designers used models to show what the prospective buyer was going to get for their money and the miniature furniture was made by the apprentices.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

They're a subset of the diorama. I've thought about doing a minature of a boat-builder's shop. Similar skills are needed, though many of the details I will purchase ready-made.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Yeah, I've thought about doing a diorama of an aircraft factory before now. Trouble is, you're not allowed to take cameras into work  except with special permission and supervision: wandering around snapping everything is not on....
