 I'm not sure where did this information come from, but the Me 262 A-1a/U4 was developed as a "Pulkzerstoerer" (Destroyer of bomber formations). I've never seen a description of this a/c as a ground attacker. Or maybe you have the Me 262A-2a Sturmvogel in mind?

Matrixone, congratulations! It's a very, very nice build!
I like the idea with a WNr. from the 501XXX Production block (Regensburg) and the "Reichsverteidigungsband" of KG(J)6.
BTW what is the second Me 262 in the background?

matrixone

Thank you Ian and Canso!

From the four volume Me 262 series from Classic Publications I read that Hitler was the one the promoted the idea of the MK 214 being used with the Me 262, the idea was to be able to fire at the bombers outside of the range of their defensive fire...on paper a great idea but in reality the Mk 214 was not the right weapon for this job but the R4M rockets were, had the R4M rockets been available at an earlier date the Me 262s would have had many more kills.

The production version of the Me 262A-1a/U4 was to have been known as the Me 262E and I think it was intended to be the ground attack version of the Me 262 but its hard to say for sure, the information on the projected Me 262E is very sketchy.

lancer,
Thanks for the more than kind words!
I live in a very wet climate where it rains a lot of the time (even during the summer) which makes getting outside to get pictures a problem, if I lived where it did not rain as much my pictures would be much more fun to look at, as it is now I will often set things up only part of the way for fear of getting caught in a sudden rain shower. My home sits in a small valley with a lot of tall trees around me which greatly limits being able to see if a rain cloud is approaching and a few times in the past my photobase and backdrop were nearly ruined by being caught in a sudden downpour so I learned to be careful this time of year!
I hope this summer is a dry one, last year was one of those years where we did not get a true summer and my pictures suffered because of it.

Thank you Fran!

My other new whiff is now finished, just waiting for the weather to clear so I can get outside and get the pics of it.
