Jon,

Was there a gun installation "area" on the X-32? I remember there was a exposed box-like airscoop or somedoohickey on the right side (?) about halfway between the weaps bay & the intake.

Not that I'm aware of.
It has to be remembered that the X-32 and X-35 were not prototypes in the usual sense i.e. the first of type,
they were purely proof-of-concept machines and as such did not have, nor did they need, provisions for
a full mix of mission equipment. Weapons bays and doors were included to test their operation and for
ordnance clearance tests.

The air intake assembly on the port (left) side was for equipment cooling.
