Sci-fi genre perhaps?  Steampunk?   The John Deere Walking Tractor and the Burning Man Walking Machine from 2007 got my (shriveled) brain thinking a bit.

I'm thinking military utility vehicle. Stalwartesque. Could you add the hydraulics and extendable feet onto a generic army truck? Just a thought   <_<
