After WWII, the USAAF and later USAF was able to evaluate the Horton Brothers flying wings.  A number had been produced, and the radar evading properties were amazing.

It was put into production in the US by (you name the company) as the F-88 (or so), and several hundred eventually entered USAF service in the mid 50s; a bit too late for Korea, but the stealth qualities were extremely valuable.

The three birds pictured here are used for different purposes during tests; white and orange is the prototype, 2 tone grey was evaluated for daytime ops, and the black one for night ops, of course.

Another shot of the birds that came to be known as "the Hortons".

Very nice.  The blue & gray one is very pretty.  You do know you can attach more than one picture to a post, right?

Don't forget the surveillance version used to monitor who, the enemy (you know, Horton hears a ...).

I just can't come up with the right words to fit the acronym.

I did not know that you could attach more than one picture to a post.  How do you do that?

Hi Wes,

When you are posting/replying and you have attached a photo, then you click on (more attachements) just to the right of the browse button and attach another photo.
It also tells you the max file size per attachement is 256KB, and a maximum of four attachements per post.
Easy as that.

Love your 229's by the way, got any more?
Which kit is it?

Very nice, the white/dayglo version got my attention!  Do you have a closer pic of the black version?  I always thought the Horten would look good in that scheme.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

To answer two questions, these kits are 1/72 from Revell of Germany; excellent kits.  I thought the nose wheel was a bit too big, so I used one from the spares box.

I will get a closer shot of the black one.  The "inscription" on the black one is "Good Golly Miss Molly", from the Vietnam-era Thuds.

Those look great - the white and orange one is particularly nice.
