I reckon a Ford would look good in a retro mid WWII scheme, the dark blue-mid blue-white scheme with fading between shades. The wing tops could be both blues, like the F4U-2s.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

With PW mentioning M*A*S*H, I've always fancied a WWII or Korean War Bristol Sycamore Casevac bird.  I'm sure I've seen a pic one with side mounted stretchers like the Bell 47's somewhere.  Trouble is it's either the ancient Glencoe kit or a rocking horse poo-poo Whirlykits vacform.  I'm not that worried about it.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I think the Sycamore had bulged side doors to take stretcher cases sideways.

See here for one not far from me

I always wondered how they got a stretcher inside such a diddy machine, I always assumed those bulged doors were just for observation.  Maybe add baskets on the side for overload conditions when expecting heavy casualtys?
