TSR.2 Landing Gear

For anyone interested in building the 1/48th scale Airfix TSR.2, Hyperscale has two articles about the TSR.2 landing gear that you may find interesting.  Both were written by Steve Naylor.  One is new and the other is a revision of an earlier article that he had submitted. 

The previous article written by Steve about "Correcting the Splay Angle" has now been updated based on his new findings. 

Steve has also written up an analysis of the main landing gear angle which is based upon the study of TSR.2 XR220 at RAF Cosford Museum.

He mentions '222 at Duxford having it's main gear legs uncompressed.

That would most likely be because the aircraft has no engines installed so will be quite a bit lighter than the specified empty weight. I suppose they could have dropped the oleo pressure to bring it down to the correct height, but apparently not. It's a pity as '222 doesn't have the auxiliary rear struts, unlike '220, and so it always looks as if there's too much of a gap astern of the legs.
