This build started yesterday and will be finished sometime tonight (ish)
The subject is the Italeri ISU-122,tank killer thingy, there are 2 kits both quick builds in the box, the one I am doing is now a tracked mobile  SAM launcher. The missiles, all 2 of them are modified items swiped from a SU-15, and have booster sections bodged onto them.
The vehicle has seen the most surgery and has felt the wrath of the dremmel razor saw
I first cut out the rear deck, as this will be a flat platform for the launch system, I then cut the radiator grille out of the deck and glued it to the rear panel of the hull. Then I filled in the hole where the gun should be with plastic card and putty. I have stuck a round hatch onto the front right panel for crew access, and a ladder to get up onto the roof also. I found the glass screen off my tamiya Vosper MTB, and cut the 2 middle panes out of it then offered it up to the front of the hull, then drew round the glass. The razor saw came out to play again to cut this bit out, and I used a knife and file to clean up the edges. I then made a window ledge from card and installed this. I then put some filler underneath the edge of the ledge to square off any rough bits. When this had gone off I put the glass in, what a pain that was :banghead:and gave it a very thin line of glue top and bottom.
When this had gone off enough I put  fine slivers of filler into the gaps around the glass (.5 of a mill in places), and shaped it with a knife. I then stuck some ERA on the front of the hull under and around the sides of the windscreen, and put a visor over the top of it also.
The launcher is made up of airfix bridge structure, plastruct gantry plastic strip a german E boat depth charge, and some thing I don't know what it is!! oh and lots of super glue.
I am about to put a base coat on the thing and I will do some pictures tomorrow.
Cheers,
Chris.

Here's some pics for you, I have give it a coat of base coat, and it needs some bits touching up and the light lenses putting on it, oh and the over spray wiping off the windows as the piece of plastic masking it fell out with out me knowing :banghead:
Well, you know what I am like with anything that should be clear don't you
The missiles will get their fins and noses matt blacked, and the exhausts gun metal greyed, I am going to do a similar camouflage to my tunguska, unless I change my mind that is

Cheers,
Chris.

Cheers Sisko,
I will try and do some better pictures next time, the other ISU is going to be either an MLRS or carry one or two big surface to surface missiles.
This thing took me a total of about 3 hours to make in all, why can't they all be like that

NARSES2

Like that Chris. Some of these "simple" Italeri and Pegasus kits are good fun.

Often thought of using the ex Foxbat missiles (can't remember what they are, but they are big) in my spares box as mobile SAM's
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hya Chris,
I have some of those missiles with the 3 Foxhound kits I have in the stash, and yes they really would make good SAM's, but, they are earmarked for my TU-22 Backfire R. A Russian version of the B-1R, with a generous loadout of long range and medium range AAM's. This SAM unit will compliment my T-62 conversion SAM launcher, and the towed radar array I made which gets towed along by one of my GAZ mobile command vehicles. I also have a Tunguska ADV and SA-6 Grumble launcher as part of my Cartel land armour contingent.

Here is some more pics for you and I am going to have to get my self a good camera when the money allows as none of the ones I have just taken do this build any justice.
Anyhow, this is nearly done now I just need to get some clear red paint for the back lights and it is finetto.

Cheers,
Chris.
