i was thinking, with the Royal Navy celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, why not organise a Group Buid around it.

there could be whiffed RN Carriers and aircraft.

Bristol F2b Sea Fighter.
F-14K/M Tomcat
RN version of the USS Nimitz,.....

I hate to put a dampner on things Nils, but it's not the FAA's anniversary.  The anniversary is '100 years of Royal Naval aviation', the first order was placed for an airship in 1909, but the Mayfly never actually flew (it broke up in high winds on the ground).  No aircrfat flew with the Royal Navy until at least 1910.  Then followed a bit of messing about until about 1912 when Britain started getting serious about military aviation & the Naval Wing of the RFC was formed.  The Royal Naval Air Service was established in 1914, shortly before the outbreak of war.  It was then merged with the RFC to form the Royal Air Force.  There then follows a bit of limbo period.  In 1924 , the Fleet Air Arm was formed, but under the command of the RAF.  The FAA didn't come under control of the Admiralty until 1939.

There's no reason a GB couldn't go ahead though with the celebrations being planned.  I personally think it's a bit of arbitary anniversary, but I guess you've got to start somewhere!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

ok, how about if we renamed it "the British Naval Aviation Centenial GB"

It would work.  Another suggestion, the celebrations are being called Fly Navy 100, how about that for a title?
