I'm in the market for a 1/72 scale Grand Slam bomb, either an aftermarket resin one or the Airfix one from the Lancaster Special (which I've never actually seen.........)

Maybe a 1/48 scale Tallboy would do too, if such a thing exists.

I'll pay money or willing to trade something from my Loft Collection.

Unfortunately Kit, you can't make a 1/72 Grand Slam out of a 1/48 Tallboy. The 1/72 Tallboy I have measures out to approximately 3.4" (I've cut the tail off and hidden the nose a bit, see my BAC Eagle GR.7 project), times that by 1.5 (to get 1/48) it will measure 5.1".  A 1/72 scale Grand Slam measures out at 4.17"

To give you an idea, the top photo shows the Airfix 1/72 Grand Slam compared to the Tamiya 1/48 one.  The bottom photo shows the 1/72 Grand Slam compared to my fancy adjustable wrench (spanner) set at 5.1"

Incidently, Paragon does have a 1/48 Tallboy conversion available, #48123 @ GBP21.99 and although Old Model Kits are a tad on the expensive side, they do have a Paragon 1/72 Grand Slam.  http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=6857&searchtext=Grand%20Slam

Another comparison, scaling up a Grand Slam to a T12 was almost the same ratio as scaling a Tallboy to a Grand Slam, as you can see in this photo, the 1/48 Grand Slam is almost twice as big as the T12.  Originally I had thought I could use the Tamiya bomb as a T12 but after some research is obviously not that easy.  The Tamiya bomb is 6.25" long, exactly 1.5 times bigger than the 1/72 Airfix one

Robert,

Curses, foiled again!

Perhaps it would have to be an Even Grander Slam then? At $44 I'm afraid Mr. Old Model Kits will be selling his to someone else though. Luckily I have an offer of a proper one in exchange for some of my Loft's contents.  ;D
