I always wonder if the KS-171 could have been successful:

400km is a long way to go with inertial homing against an AWACs.

Practically, the AWACS should see the missiles coming - but if they force evasive action  / shutting off of the radar it gives a strike package a temporary "window".

Of course, could this then lead to anti-missile missiles for the AWACS, such as the short AMRAAM now under development?
