Hello chaps!
I'm after generic alien text/insignia/noseart sort of decal things. I know SSM store used to produce these, but seem to have stopped, and no one on the SSM forum has so far answered my threads asking about the such like.
Anyone here know of any sources? Even marking sheets of obscure airforces would probably work as they can be modified and re-jigged with.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

What about Games Workshop's Tau markings? They're quite interesting, and the sheets have a variety of symbols and glyphs on them. If you want the sheet I have, shoot me a PM and they're yours. :)
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

If you can still get hold of them, some of the Zotz Roundels of the World sheets might be useful.  Partly because there are all sorts of symbols that can be swapped about, but also because many of them are two part to prevent register problems, so it's easy to make your own combinations.  Would work just as easily for fictional terrestrial nations too.

This Middle East sheet might be particularly useful.  It contains Arabic numerals, which you could cut, re-orient, or place together to make some interesting shapes which you could use alone, or add to other devices.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I have a sheet of decals from the GW Eldar Falcon Grav Tank if you would like them?

Should have mentioned I do not want to use GW. I am a gamer, all my freinds are gamers, and we can all recognise GW decals from a mile away. Also I want things larger than GW make them anyway.
The zotz things sound interesting, I shall keep a weather eye open.

UPDATE: Found an australian online stockist of the Zotz roundels and bought a set of the middle eastern ones; they look rather tasty!
I am still on the look out for generic text decals and anything else alien looking anyone finds (even if it just means turning things upside down or sideways, I have done that before!

Pretty much any roundels that aren't, well, round might be useful.  Estonia, Philipines, Macedonia, Portugal, German (any era), Mexico, Holand WWII, Poland, Afghanistan, Barbados, Burma, Indonesia Brazil Air Force & Army (not Navy), South Africa (castle or modern nine pointed star) to name a few.  Five pointed stars can easily be modified into arrows & other shapes.

There are plenty of 'round' roundels that might be useful too, especially those with unusual symbols within them.  Uruguay, Croatia, Ireland, Tanzania, Nicaragua, Panama, Kazakhstan, Chile, Namibia, Kyrzygstan, Taiwan/Republic of China, Cambodia, Singapore amongst others.

Most of these are obscure, but again, any Zotz Roundels of the World sheets will be your freinds.  The other one I know of that is still available is the North American sheet, which includes the Carribean islands.  Apart from that shout out & I'm sure people here will raid their decal stashes!

I think the Zotz sheets were inspired by this site & it's worth a look to see if there's anything you fancy:
