Some of you might remember me from last year when I posted snippets of stories about a fighter group in China post WW2.  http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,21504.0.html

After leaving it sit for a long time I have come back to it.  I still have no work area and have not een tried to build a kit yet.  I am starting to look at my first WHIF though.  It will be the twin engined fighter-bomber of Arc Angel's commander.  Some suggested Tigercat I know.  One might end up in the squadron still.

What follows is a rundown of the parts I am thinking of using or need:
-  Hobby Craft P-59 Aerocomet fuselage with the jet intakes closed in with 2 20mm cannons each and the nose changed to carry 6 .50s
-  Looking at going with RR Griffins for the engines.  Inexpensive source of two fighter front ends?  Alternately Napier Sabres set up for better high altitude performance
-  Not sure on the wings yet.  I might use the P59s and modify to add the two engines in.  Each will will have two hardpoints.
-  I am still debating about the landing gear.  Tricycle or tail dragger?  The pilot was a P-38 pilot so he would be used to tricycle.

Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.

If this is posted in the wrong area please tell me so and move it.

Nah, it sounds like you've posted in the right area, a generic place for kicking around ideas. And yours sounds KICKASS!. So run with it.

THank you Rat.  I hope to have a work area set up in the next week or two and then I will try and build something.  Probably a Testor P-51D I picked up that will end up being the main antagonists plane.  I figure it is also a good way to let me know if I really want to keep building .

I have a P-59 pn the way and can start looking at it in comparison to other models to get a sense of scale and what I want to do.
