Fantastically bizzare accident!  Notice that the announcer constantly refers to them as bombers, to me they were always second line aircraft, I tend to forget their early offensive role.

It's the 'boringness' of Annies that attracts me, strangely.  It's the working class hero of the aviation world.  Shunned in the offensive roles by bigger & shinier types, it did the menial jobs excellently without much in the way of recognition!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

To add to Radish' reply, this actually was just a trainer for sea operating procedures, it wasn't able to take off as the floats were too small.
