Doesn't look like it.

Unfortunately progress has ceased for the 1 week GB.

I'm back from the dead (or Adelaide at least which some might argue ammounts to the same thing or worse)

Having taken a short brake for some JMN submarine building and contest prize winning I have dusted off the RF4X again. I think I know why I havn't had another go at it till now. the kit is terrible, I've seen what ifs combinging parts from 3 seperate airfcrft which require less PSR......

I'm on to the inlets which require much PSR to get to look like noraml F4 ones let alone RF4X ones.

The landing gear also leaves a lot to be desired but I think I'll mount it on a base so no one can see it.

Ahah, I never saw this thread before, but I've been building on of these in 1/72 for about 10 years now. I used the 12 Squared conversion nose grafted onto a Hasegawa RF-4D main assembly, but I'm building the 'in service' version, the IDF RF-4E(S) which didn't have the conformal tanks or the water injection or the Mach 3 intakes, more's the pity. This pic might come in handy for you though, it's the mockup showing the tanks and intakes.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

I've seen that pic before
I think I'm just going to put some gussets top and bottom on the standard intakes.
My tanks are just the drop tanks as in the photos I posted there will be no attempt to blend them in.
My nose also only has one vertical camera, no windows for oblique cameras (i did lengthen it though).
I'lll try to get some pics tonight, once the intakes are done all that remains is paint (and thinning the LG doors to something less that 6" thick scaled up and a second attempt at cutting canopies, crosses fingers)

Bah!  Adelaide isn't that bad - spent a few years living there whilst in the RAAF.  Good wine, good food, good friends!  In fact I'm heading back that way for 3 days next week.
