For some bizarre reason I found myself opening the pics to full size, when the MR23 itself is sitting on my model shelf about 7 ft away and in full view!   

I'm not quite sure what the connection is between the write up and the lack of a Brit Dale Brown though. Could you expand on that a bit please Royabulgaf?

Time marches on and the MR23 is showing its age, and it's less than a year old! 

I've got two problems with the beast, one maybe solvable but I doubt the other is. The first is the main landing gear is starting to bend badly, the 'axles' of the main wheels have bent upwards, probably due to the TONS of nose ballast and fishng weights I had to use. I recall an earlier RW Matchbox PR9 I did had the same problem, so it could be the plastic they used for the main legs.

Does anyone do white metal landing gear for a 1/72 Canberra? All the Marks are the same so there isn't an issue there, thank goodness.

The second problem is the white paint has started to crack! I can't get it to show in a piccie, but the upper rear of the fuselage, where the fin is mounted, is showing wiggly cracks around the edges of the decals, slowly spreading along the fuselage top. It's standard Halfords Appliance White with two coats of Kleer, and I've never had that happen before, even with scores of airliner models I've done.

I think I'll just have to put it down to poor paintshop work when the 204 Sqdn. ground crews rushed the Anniversary paint job.......

I sometimes get the white paint problem it never seems to effect the wholw model just a small area don't know why it does it but it sucks

Heritage do or at least did a set, which came with resin u/c bays and a choice of white metal wheels.

The BUSINESS! Just what I needed gents, thanks for the pointers.

And the resin wheel bays will add something to the Matchbox PR9 bays, as they don't exist at all! Or at least they will after I've managed to get them into the wing of course.

unfortunately the white metal wheels are of extremly variable quality: round wheels with off centre hubs, oval wheels, asymetric wheels....I had a couple of faulty sets then went through a load of them at a show on the heritage stand, many where equally bad! The weel bays are nice though.

As opposed to Recconisance how about a Maritime strike aircraft like the Buccaneer used to do.
Have put a profile on the images of the Maritime strike Canberra based on the B(I)8/PR9 and the T22.
