soviet small boat numbers

I have noticed on some pictures that smaller Soviet boats often had numbers on the bow, do these numbers relate to anything ?

Is there a specific colour they have to be ?

Is there a specific size for the size of ship ?


Any help would be apreciated as I'm woring on something sovietfor the Empires twighlight thread and need the info .
