I'm not sure if I ever asked this before but was there any technical reason why the Bendix XAAM-N-10 Eagle was cancelled?

That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Neither the Eagle nor the USAF's AIM-47 had been fired at the time of the Eagle's cancellation IIRC, but the Air Force missile was farther along, and rather than proceed with two similar projects, the Phoenix program was started - it looked like AIM-47, but like Eagle had mid-course correction.
