... the Blackburn Roc was one of the types ordered by the Finnish Goverment in 1939 from the UK. (others being the Lysander and Hurricane which were delivered, other types requested, eg. the Hudson and Spitfire were also ordered but deemed not avaliable at that time) the aircraft were despatched for delivery, their blue 'swasitkas' being covered by pasted over white discs for the ferry flight, and gathered at Dyce airfield in Aberdeen Feb/March 1940. Unfortunately the 'Winter War' ended before the aircraft could be delivered and the airframes returned to British service ...

... a few other types come to mind re such covered over national markings, eg the F.14 Tomcat and P.3 Orion aircraft destined for Iran and the F.16 Falcons en route to Israel with tempoary applied US. insignia

Presumably all those tanks are so it can make Warsaw in one hop from the US, right? :)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I guess this counts, it's a pre-dilevery scheme of updated aircraft, rather than new.  Saudi Tornadoes are in the process of an uprgrade to standard similar to the GR.4 as part of the Tornado Sustainment Programme.  Three Saudi aircraft have been used as prototypes & have recieved UK roundels & serials, ZK113 being the first & upgraded aircraft will be marked the same.  When aircraft are sent to the UK, the Saudi roundels & serials are overpainted with British ones.  The title 'Tornado Sustainment Programme' replace the RSAF titles & the idiograms on the fin flash are replaced with 'T.S.P.', unit markings are painted out.  Did a double take first time I saw it in a magazine, especially when seeing them against green hills in the UK.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Kit, the pods on the outboard pylons are MXU series baggage pods for pilot luggage.

One I've liked recentley is the NH90.  This example has been assembled by Patria of Finland for delivery to Sweden.  The only markings are a manufacturers serial, but most of interest is the patchwork quilt of primer.  This shows it's modular nature & it's kit style of assembly that means it can be assmebled just about anywhere.  It'd make a great model.

Here's the same aircraft with it's clothes on:

Almost forgot about this thread, here's two I spotted on Airliners.net.  A Squirrel & a Cougar, both bound for Algeria.  They both have a French civil serial, with an Algerian military serial crossed out ineffectually.

A Harbin Y-12, snapped in China with a civil reg, for delivery to Zambia.  The Zambian markings are taped over, but the tape is wearing off.

Just going to the Blackburn Roc. One of my favourite airplanes but I read that when the float equipped version was tried out at Helensburgh the first prototype crashed on take off! Although the type was tested extensively comments like "dangerous if an attempt to manoeuvre at low altitude was made" were recorded. Probably good that the Finns never received these aircraft. I don't want to hijack this thread so my other comments are elsewhere.

If this is Upper Silesia, one can only wonder what Lower Silesia is like.

Totally OT, but was there ever a 1/72 kit of this?

According to 72 SCALE CENSUS there was a resin kit by Miku. But it's pretty rare and apparently not worth writing home about. :( A mainstream injection kit is sorely needed, I think. These little helos seem to be as ubiquitous as the venerable Huey nowadays.  A decent Bo 105 in 1/72 wouldn't hurt either.
