Dragon kits - Models for the Elite

Well it looks like Dragon are going upmarket.

Nope they aint doing their kits in gold, but watching the Hannants Website on new arrivals and future releases, it wappears all their new kits and restocks have gone up in price by about 25% !!!!!!.

I noticed the Type 42's had jumped from the £18-21 mark to £27.99,but then i saw the 1/35 figure sets and their Gen2 issues are now at £16.75 !!!!.

Considering inflation is zip at the moment and the Economy still very ropey i would suspect that even the track heads will baulk at paying those prices and demand will likely plummet.

They've been getting worse throughout this year Geoff.  I think it was about 6 months ago that they started selling 1/72 Tigers for £20.  Now their latest 1/35 tanks are going for over £50.  Utterly ridiculous.

In fact, I thought a saw an announcement from Hannants a few months back that they were stopping Dragon tanks as the prices were too high.

I know over the years that there have been many complaints about DML churning out endless Panzers on Armorama, and every time the answer is the same - 90% of their market is in the far east, and they go nuts for anything with a swastika on them.  I guess they feel that losing a few thousand units sales in Britain is neither here nor there to them.  Maybe its the old car dealers "rather sell one at £11,000 than 10 at £1000"

Might be time to sell my one and only Dragon AFV - It's been unavailable for ten years...... oh, wait a minute.... it's not a Panzer or a Sherman.... S'pose I'll have to build it, one day !

Oh Nev i had caught the new stuff rapidily rising in price which wasn't surprisong giving the quality and the extras contained in the new stuff, the surprise was the existing kits skyrocketing as they are restocked, thats when things start getting serious .... I can see a fair number of trackheads pulling their hair out over paying double the price for a kits they would buy regularly

Yea I noticed the trend as well ESP as I'm a Treadhead,At least Academy is still giving good kits for decent prices.Sure it may not have all the extra goodies in the box But when I'm paying almost Half the price for a good kit (And I think Academy has the best "Rubber band" tracks I've ever seen) I'll take a Good kit at a decent price over a "Super" kit I need to take a loan out to get any day,Especially in todays economy.And there are others out there Trumpeter,AFV club,older Tamiya and Italeri as well as the afore mentioned Academy kits.I build em all if it's got tracks (Or wheels) and kicks butt on the ground I'll build it

Ah, I hadn't noticed the restocks going up as well.
