A few weeks ago I got some junk mail from the Pacific Aviation Museum in Hawaii (they were seeking donations) and on the back of the envelope was a nice picture of an airport, I was about to throw the envelope away but after looking at the picture again I thought it might be fun to see if such a small picture could be used as a backdrop for some model pictures.
I grabbed a couple small sized models and put them on my table and propped up the envelope behind the models and took a couple pics and was surprised how well the pictures looked.

And here they are:

The B/W pic reminds of photographs that I have seen of captured aircraft brought to this country post war for flight tests.

Calanders or posters might work just as well for backdrops, the only problem with that idea is they are often printed on glossy paper.

I prefer the colour one - it has that look of being deployed to somewhere warm and sunny, Africa (or Florida!)

Thanks nev,

Yes those trees would have to be from Florida, California, or as in this case Hawaii. If the envelope was a little bigger I would try and get a picture of my what-if Ki-83 in front of it, Japanese built aircraft would be a natural with this backdrop.

BTW, the He 162 was built from a Revell kit a few years ago, its not the Lindberg kit. The Fw 190 is made from the 1/144 scale Eduard kit.

Matrixone,
Is there any way you can make the planes just a little blurrier or less distinct?
I think that would make the photo look more convincing.
And yes, Japanese planes would be just the ticket for that backdrop!!!
