Hya Folks,
I am in need of some information on what 5 bladed propellers I could use for a current build.
I am doing a turboprop conversion on a 1/72nd scale Beriev Be-6, and the original props simply won't do
I want something that is the same sort of diameter as the originals, or near as damn it. The originals are 75 mm ( 3 inch ) in diameter.
Contra props would look good, I just need to know what I can get hold of and where from.
Cheers,
Chris.

Looking at photos of the real plane, the props have a very B-29/50 look to them, probably from the Tu-2.  But 3" is 18 feet and B-29 props were 16 feet IIRC.  The closest you can get to the 3 inch would be if you used a 1/48 Sea Fury prop, 12'-6" divided by 48 = 3 1/8"
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Cheers for that Robert, I will look into a couple of those.
I am not 100 % convinced the props on the kit are accurate anyway as the kit is a bit vague to say the least. It is the NewBee kit, and it only cost me 3 quid!
Cheers,
Chris.

Right then,
It looks like I can't get hold of just the props for the sea fury, I was thinking the 5 blade griffon props might be ok in 1/48th, or perhaps the contra props for the 48th spitfire. Any thoughts on this are welcome.
Cheers,
Chris.

The Fokker 50 also has 5 bladed props. I think there are some conversion kits out there.

Allow me to ask a stupid question, can you by a second kit to use the props from?  This would allow you to either scratch-build five-bladed props or do contra-props for both engines.  OF course, that would leave the airframe of the second kit for more extreme whiffs (though this might not be a bad thing).

Hmm,?
Firstly, this is the only one of these kits I have seen to be honest, and, the kit props are..........crap!
Plus I want to be able to use the props with a spinner also. The kit props are also very skinny looking things, and I really don't like them.

Makes sense to me.  I'd probably go looking for what inexpensive kits, or detail bits, I could acquire for the purpose.  They aren't the cheapest items, but I'd look at Aeroclub's range of propellors and see if there was anything useful there.  Beyond that, consider, if you can find them, a couple of the comparatively cheap PM kits of the Sea Fury (though I don't know how well those cowlings would work with the base kit you've got).
