I have decided to let the Jedi Cruiser sit for a bit while I try and get a few other models finished. I don't want it to become a chore and if I keep plugging away at it then I will have failed one of the important criteria for the hobby. To have fun!

To this end I finished some fun gaming builds.

First of the rank is the new demolisher kit. This is a completely re-tooled model. Unlike the old demolisher kit which was basically the leman russ tank with some metal details to change it. This kit features all new highly detailed plastic parts and you also get a lot more main and secondary weapons options. They have also fixed the way the tracks are fitted so it quicker to fit and a lot less fiddly.

I scratch built a stowage basket and added jerry cans, backpacks boxes and tent rolls to give it a more operational look.

Second is what I call my Leman Russ lite!

While I like the retro look of the side sponsons they would not be very practical in a jungle or heavily wooded enviroment.

So I simply removed them. I also added some extra bulk to the turret and some additional stowage details.

Always nice to see some more 40K with mods on it.  Beautiful work on those Russes, Sisko.  I should dig out the stuff and snap some pics of other 40K builds I've done.
Putty-fu, Scratch-jutsu and Bash-chi, the sacred martial arts of the What-If. Mastering them, is Ancient Chinese Secret.

Just your friendly neighbourhood Mad Scientist and Ship-whiffer.

Overkill? Nah, it's Insurance.  So are the 20" guns.

Thanks for the feedback.

I know a few people here about have built some 40k stuff so I thought that people wouldn't mind seeing them.

Sure mate post away. Always happy to see other builds. I might dig out some of my older builds.

I like the GW minitures because they are a nice in between build which doesn't tax you as a modeler. You can build them stock or go to town on detail.

They are a little on the pricy side but I buy them off ebay and save myself quite a bit.

Nice models Sisko!

This is an Eldar Falcon grav tank I built a number of years ago:

I was less than impressed with what came in the box for the price, maybe they've issued a better new tooling of it by now.

I dressed it up quite a bit around the exhausts with bits and bobs from electronic and plumbing supply shops (the main exhausts have faucet aerators in them.

I also carved some vents here and there on it for added intrest and too make it look like it actually had gear inside it that needed cooling or exhaust outlets.

^ Very intricate (and good-looking) camo! I think the Eldar anti-grav tanks got some new tools a couple of years ago.
Cheers,

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Nice camo job!! I like the Eldar stuff it looks great, it has so much scope for building and painting.
