Help re contents of a kit please.....

...still new to this n not sure if this is the right board....does anyone know if the new 1/72 scale Red Arrow Airfix Hawk kit is just a Red Arrows boxing or does it contain any wing stores.....like the 1/48 version...I tried a search on the interweb but came up with prices n where to get it...couldn't find a kit review. many thanks in advance.......H

I think the new Hawk is a Hawk 200, while the Red Arrows Hawk is the old kit / T.1

Airifix have two new tool Hawks out, the Red Arrows T.1 & Hawk 100 series (not a 200, mores the pity!).  As far as I'm aware, the Red Arrows Hawk just has the smoke generator pod & doesn't have any other decals or a war load.  I've got the Hawk 100 series incarnation, that has an aden cannon pod, sidewinders & two sizes of drop tank.

Is the Airfix Hawk 100 a new tool or a re-pop of the Italeri one??  If it's a new one I think I need a couple!

It's a new tool.  Downsides are the panel lines are a bit heavy & the cockpit a little basic, but should build up nicely & looks right.  It's got markings for RAF (Hawk 128 prototype), Indian Air Force & a pretty demo bird.

Airfix Hawk 100 series featured in November Scale Aircraft Modelling, got a glowing review from what I can see "Nice One...." suitable for all skill levels novice upwards. Cannot reflect on the Red Arrows version at this time, but as for the Me109G and the Spitfire 19.................that is another story.

Yes....I read about the cannon 'bulge' being wrong as it should be bulges among other stuff........is the Spit based on an innacurate metal model or something similar?

Have a look at the Real McCoy taken at the RAF Leuchars airshow in September, I don't see any trenches on the fuselage!!! As for overall detail its seems a fair representation of a Spitfire, but there seems to be something odd about the engine bulges above the exhausts, they seem too squared off. Cockpit detail etc is ok, which makes one wonder why this level of cockpit detail has not been carried over to the soon to be mk9 kit which has a simplified cockpit as per the Mk1a/5B kits. 
The 109 seems to be a modern tooling copied from the original and hence the innaccurate cannon bulges, Galland Hood is not right either and the weapons are almost the same as the original issue. One recent magazine review panned it, the Hawk seems to be one of the glowing stars at present. Could the Spitfire 19 and the soon to be mk9 be tooled in different places and therefore be to different standards or layouts? thoughts anyone?
