Our wives decided that when our local model club has it's Xmas party this month, all of us guys need to make models for the tree decorations.  Here's my finished Xmas model.  This is an Airfix Fokker DR1 Triplane, in 1/72.  It's pretty much out of the box except that I left off the guns and modified the pilot figure.  I somehow managed to slip this into the schedule and get it done in the last week and a half.   The holly markings are hand painted.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Sharp Ed,
Will have to take pics of what the rest of the club comes up with.

perfect model for that application

Love the Santa pilot and the holly markings Ed! Using the Red Baron's triplane for this was truly an inspired choice!

Will die without understanding this world.

Tophe

;D I did not know Santa Claus was a fighter... (well in French, fighter and hunter are the same word "chasseur", maybe that's the same in German or else).
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Yes, Tophe, they are similarly termed in german - after all, the Jasta designation is a contraction of Jagdstaffel - Hunting Group, literally.  Jagdgeschwader of WW2 would be Hunting Squadron, just as they termed Tank Destroyers - Jagdpanzer - Hunting Tank.

I'm with the rest of the guys, Ed - I like the Baron Von Kringle there, well done on the choice of plane and the modified markings and pilot.
Putty-fu, Scratch-jutsu and Bash-chi, the sacred martial arts of the What-If. Mastering them, is Ancient Chinese Secret.

Just your friendly neighbourhood Mad Scientist and Ship-whiffer.

Overkill? Nah, it's Insurance.  So are the 20" guns.

Cute idea.

I used to have a huge supply of 1/144 and 1/150-scale aircraft that I fantasized about making an Xmas tree full of such baubles, but....(sigh)

Glad you did it!

Now I can picture a similarly-painted "airliner" in which Santa is the pilot and his reindeer are "seated" in the passenger compartment!

Or maybe a red London double-decker, driven by Santa, with the reindeer in the open top deck!!

Help! Somebody turn my brain off!!!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

This will give Alvis some competition this year.

Make sure you send it to ARC.

He needs a pair of candy-canes instead of machineguns.  Now that would be the icing on the proverbial cake!
