Cool.  I have a swept wing version in progress (on a shelf somewhere).  At the time, I had thought I was sooooo very clever....that was until I saw a full-scale plywood mockup that had built of one in real life.

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

The Rat

Bit more work done. The shorter of the two available horizontal stabilisers has graciously donated a portion of itself to extend the vertical stabiliser, this will probably get shortened a few millimetres:

Faith and bejabbers, this is an absolutely horrendous example of the kitmaker's 'art'... Do I really want to tackle more of these?  :banghead:

You should love this then:

The plywood mockup was "Item 3" (top row, right), aka the C-103. Personally, I'd love to take a crack at "Item 2" (immediately to the left of the C-103) and/or "Item 7" (second row, second from right).

That's SOME morph, from a Clunk to an Arrow!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I have the C104 in my gotta do this some day file.  I figure I can start with an F-106.  In fact, it looks too much like the 106.  I figure to make the wing resemble the Arrow more.  Well, you know how that goes.
The Leng Plateau is lovely this time of year

Aw, c'mon. You gonna let a little styrene stimy your creative impulse? The tail looks good, and the long wings
are gonna be fantastic.

The Rat

Pretty sure I'm going to make this a single-seater, the cockpit hardware is pitiful.

Are you doing that in 1/72 scale ?

If so, I got one of these a while ago, really nice set --

The price is quite reasonable, too.

:o Wish I'd seen one of those sets before I got too far into this one. Whoever designed these intakes is evil incarnate. If (IF!)
I'm crazy enough to do another I'll check back with you, thanks!

<CF-100 JMN Mode>

Only beef I have with it is that it seems to be correct for a late Mk. 5 and possibly a 5D ECM plane (no de-icing spinners in the intakes), but not for early Mk. 5s or the 4A/B (which had the spinners). Also can't see enough detail in the cockpits to see which version it is correct for -- the Mk. 5 went through a lightening program that removed a lot of equipment like the map table, fire extinguishers and so forth from the cockpit areas; the de-icing equipment was also removed from the wings and intakes accounting for the lack of spinners.

BTW, some Mk 5D ECM planes were converted from Mk. 4s so they still had the deicing boots on the wings.

Sorry about that. Had to get that out there. Looks like a nice little set, though.

Okay, wings and horizontal stabiliser have been glued on, it's beginning to look like I might actually finish this thing. I'll probably be brush painting it, I seem to get things done faster that way. Pics to come probably in a couple of days.
