Since I have various projects for aircraft modifed for Finnish service, I was wondering what distinctive weapons they used, if any.

Specifically:

Rifle-calibre machine-gun

Heavy machine-gun

Autocannon

Bombs: 250lb, 500lb, 1000lb (ish)

for the 'Winter War' period almost anything would be suitable i guess as material was in short supply, just look at the myriad of aircraft type ordered and operated during this time, for 'Continuation War' i think the Finnish forces tried to standardise somewhat, ill do some checking in my references to hand and see what i can find, a safe bet for circa late Continuation War tho could be German supplied equipment. The Finn's did have their own bomb types, 'Galdecal' make a not too expensive set of various types in resin for use with the Blenheim etc.

cheers, joe

Autocannon

For early war use, both Oerlikon and Madesen would be plausible (the were in Finnish service as AA guns, 20 ItK/23 and 20 ItK/39 M, respectively). For late war, the MG151/20.

Could've sworn I posted this on the Weapons forum.....

Yeah, probably get more responses there. Meanwhile, here's a rather random assortment (leaving out most of the captured/bought Soviet MGs.

Lahti 7.62 mm x 54R machineguns: L-33, L-33/36, and L-33/39 flexible-mount; L-34 fixed-mount

British 7.7mm x 56R (.303") machineguns: Lewis and Vickers (also in 7.62mm x 54R)

12.7mm x 99 heavy machine guns: (FN-Brownings) Colt MG53-2, VKT 12.70 LKk/42

20mm autocannons: 20 mm x 82 MG151/20 (Bf-109), 20mm x 99R ShVAK (Mörkö according to some sources), 20mm x 110 HS.9 (MS-406/410)

For whif purposes, you might considered a native autocannon chambered for Lahti's belted
20mm x 113 ammunition for for L-39 AT gun.
