Back History

in 1952, the Leutonian Navy bought 3 ex-US Navy fletcher-class destroyers (USS Irwin, Preston and Benham). these were renamed LNS Ramses, Louise and John. these ships served the Leutonian Navy up until 2001, when the last ship, LNS Ramses was retired from service.

at the end of 2008, the Leutonian Navy faced a shortcoming in fleet power. they didnt have enough ship to perform the required duties. so in April 2009, the navy decided to rebuild, upgrade and refit one of the old fletcher-class ships that were retired 10 years ago. the LNS Louise, the second of the 3, was pulled into the workshop in may 2009, after it served as a instructional vessel for navy technicians in a drydock since she was retired in 1999.
The admirality has also decided to give the ship a new name and have settled for the "LNS Lissette Hanley". as she was one of the finest field commanders in the allied forces, she also thwarted a Comunist-Nazi rebel invasion of Leutonia in december 2006, at the age of 26, she already showed to great strategic tallents.
launch of the new vessel is expected to happen in july 2009.

the model:

the model i will be using is, you geussed it, the revell 1/144 Fletcher Class destroyer.
im gonna try to add a few scratchbuild extra's to it, just to make it a bit more modern
next the earlier build 1/144 aircraft carriers, she will be the biggest whiff on the shelf  ;D

Very nice! Looking forwards to this one, and it's eventual reconstruction into a carrier

One thing about the backstory though...a nazi-communist invasion force? Thats as likely as the Republicans and Democrats agreeing on something

Spey_Phantom

sory, but she isnt going to be a carrier, but she will be a destroyer as build from the box.
the commie-nazi idea i got from an episode of the simpsons

What sort of modernisation are you planning for the Fletcher Nils? I'm guessing better electronics and some sort of missile system yes?

Holy build revival, Batman  :o

after an almost 6 month hiatus, the contruction on the LNS Lissette Hanley has finally continued, the 2 smokestacks have now been put togetther, and the hull has been completly painted.
with a long winter ahead, and a stash that needs slimming, im gonna put everything else on hold until this ship is finished

funny, but so wrong , if they're in the navy, i dont think i wanna join that crew

anyway, i have an update.

construction has begun on the main top structure. ive already build up the lower cabins and started on the top ones.
i also put up 2 motivational pinup posters for the crew, as i do tend to boost the crews morale  ;D

buildup is going at a good pace, i also put up a starting point for the cable-railing , hope to have her in service by the beginning of the new year  -_-

For both of the ladies.

Looking forward to the final product.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Sauragnmon

I would find myself so very tempted to modify the armament in some fun ways with that.

Looking forward to seeing what you do to the rest of the ship, Nils.  It's a big piece, overall, and should look quite impressive when finished.

UPDATE:

got a little work done today, i decided to replace the wire for the railing with styrene strips that come with the revell 1/72 snowberry .
the somokestacks are now in place, and all main structures are now in place, overall, she is about 65 percent finished. radar tower is now under construction, aswell as the spotlights, gun turrets and torpedo tubes. as for overall armament, i think im gonna skip adding the extra armament, as this vessel appears to be packin alot of heat OOB.
