For the Tornado F3 you'll need the Airfix kit and about 4 tubes of filler.
Or wait for HobbyBoss to bring out their expensive version.

For the GR.4, once again Airfix and filler.
I've read reviews that say the expensive HobbyBoss kit has inappropriate details for the RAF version.
Italeri do a 1/48th version which I like, but the choice is yours.

Italeri also did a nice F3 but it's not been around for years now, despite letters from me badgering them!!

If I were you I'd build a Starfighter!

ok thanks, i've always wanted to do a tornado (being british) so it looks like being both airfixs kits on my 'lean' budget lol :tornado: thanks for your opinion

Well I'm British but I still prefer the starfighter. Then again, I'm "old" and remember seeing an F-104C at a RAF Open Day at RAF Gaydon......those were the days.....around 1958/9 I think??

JJC,

PM incoming..........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

There is no "best" ADV in 1/48.  Hopes were high for the new HB kit, but that has a lot of little things wrong with it.  The Italeri kit (if you can find one) requires a fair bit of work to bring it up from the "basic" standard.  General opinion is its the best kit if you are willing to spend the £££££ on the Flightpath set for it.
