Soviet Pulse Jet Spitfire

And how much of the above is true?

Well, everything about Soviet booster testing is true except that they were never tested on Spitfires or any other Western-supplied fighter, although B-25s were used for pulse jet and turbojet testing. Spitfires were used for other tests - there are photos of Mk.Vs on catapults like a Hurricat!

Also, the information on the numbers of Spitfires delivered to the USSR and their use is, broadly, correct and the November 1946 flypast really was cancelled because of the weather (but, in 1947 - although the programme had already been cancelled - a formation of pulse jet boosted La-9s did take part).

The British Air Attaché is fiction but the aircraft recognition skills of professional aircrew are notoriously bad. In my two years flying Chipmunks with Aberdeen University Air Squadron (liked flying, didn't like the RAF) I was surprised by the number of pilots who couldn't tell a Concorde from a Tiger Moth and weren't really interested.

With regard to Soviet colours, it is very unlikely that, if my Spitfire had existed, it would have had a winter camouflage in 1946. A parade scheme is more likely. Sadly, the Soviet colour debate is just as tedious as the Luftwaffe version. While I've never met Erik Pilawskii, he has undoubtedly done a lot of research and  his opinions deserve respect, but if you want to lose the will to live, try reading the "1948 Fraud and Abuse" and the "1948 Goskhimizdat"  threads on the "Modelling the Aircraft of the Soviet VVS" site.

As for Friedrich Georg and the ifs, buts and must-have-beens that pass for his research - there was no viable German equivalent to the Manhattan Project and Germany did not have an array of unused or not-quite-ready nuclear weapons. Live with it. And while we're at it:

Start Rant -
the MiG-15 is not a development of the Ta-183, the I-270 is not a MiG version of the Me-263, Shakespeare's plays were written by Shakespeare, 9-11 was not carried out by the CIA but by Islamic Terrorists who came up with a simple plan and had a fair bit of luck, Neil Armstrong actually landed on the Moon and not the Arizona desert and, with the possible exception of Sarah Palin, aliens have never visited the Earth and there are no flying saucers!!!!! - Rant Over.

And finally, the Airfix connection. Sadly, no pulse jet Spitfire is planned, but if it was - - -  well, if the Soviet colour "controversy" hasn't got to you, read the Britmodeller thread on the new Airfix Hurricane Mk.II. Just don't do it on a high building or cliff edge where you might be tempted to jump - - -

Great model, great back story and great explanation of back story  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Very plausible and realistic.  And a well done model.  This could fool your average JMN.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I am agree, I saw some similar estatoreactor with the Mustang P51 & Lagg7 but there were less nice and his paint are too normal.
