To me, the Il-28 has always looked like a very advanced WWII Japanese aircraft to me, if you were to change the jet engines to props and put "Frances" tail surfaces on it. Imagine a tricycle gear Frances.

I also note the general shape, except the tail, is vaguely reminiscent of the B-26 Marauder. I've sometimes thought a B-26 with jet engines might be interesting. Maybe a captured B-26 with the Ar-234 4-engine jet layout...

Thoughts?

I thought of converting a B-26 into a jet powered bomber - some of the IL-28 precursors looked a lot like the B-26 (or even the B-25) with jets. I even got as far as mocking up a 1/144 B-26, but got distracted and ended up with this instead. The Minicraft kit is cheap and fits together beautifully , so it's a good one to practice ideas on.

I'm not sure a B-26 would go very far with just four BMW-003s. An IL-28's engine produces more than 3x the thrust of the BMW 003. Four HeS 011 engines would produce almost as much thrust as two Klimov VK-1s.
