I don't know what shocks me most: that fact that it's been bid up to over £100 or the fact that it hasn't met it's reserve yet....

Looks like it sold for £120..........  :o

Having said that, back in the 80s I sold a Valiantto one of the 2nd had traders for £70 then, and he suggested the price, he was so keen to get hold of it! Mine was a French one, labelled as 'Tri-ang' which maybe made it rarer. I would have settled for a LOT less than that, but if he was that keen to get it, who was I deter him?  -_-

I've never seen one of these kits, so what's special about them?  They don't really interest me though as it's an 'odd' scale, much prefer to stick to 1/72.

gave one away to Sandy (tojo633) recently for his collection, its a nice enough model, ill await the Airfix one tho, hehehe

Robert,

Goodness knows, it's just your plain ordinary plastic kit really. Frog made good moulds back then, better than Airfix of the period perhaps, but even in 1/100 the Valiant's a pretty large box, over a foot long. It's just rare now, as I don't think that ever Novo took those moulds.

The star in that size box was the 1/144 scale Super VC10, that came with glue, white paint and a monster stand that had room for batteries too, as the model had flashing nav lights on the wing tips and tail!

There was an article on the Frog Valiant in the March Model Aviation World.

I have a few built examples of the Frog "V" force bombers, all are destined to be restored. But mint condition unbuilt examples can go for up to £270 as one example of the Valiant did last April on Evilbay . So £70 is a bargain, I think there is an urban myth regarding the tooling of these, not sure how true it is but seems the tooling was lost at sea while being shipped from A to B?? may explain why they are so sought after - who knows.
I have I think 2 Valiant, 2 Victors and 1 Vulcan all built and on the pile to be restored at some point before I shuffle off this mortal toil. As i said unbuilt ones can go for high prices, but as TSR Joe will tell you models are to be built, and in his case chopped, sawed, modified, butchered LOL as another classic bit of Frog plastic has a fight with a razor saw!!

Cheers
Sandy
