This model, which is not that far from being finished has sat in my shed on a shelf for easy 3 years, I gave up on it because of the massive gaps around the glazing which seemed to look worse when puttied up. So it got left, until yesterday when I brought it in from the cold and the damp and started work on it again. The glazing will still look like a pigs ear, but there you go I have done it some new rotor blades from the Italeri Mi-28 that wasn't  and fitted them to the original hub. Then it is painting time just needs tarting up and the undersides doing and some Cartel decals and its finished, ready to be shot down by my fighter helicopter
Cheers,
Chris.

I don't know if you've ever tried it, but white glue (PVA) works very well for sealing up gaps around transparencies!
It dries clear, and can be cleaned up with water without damaging the clear parts.

Yes I have some of that stuff, but the putty was first put in over 3 years ago, and because the clear parts have frame work moulded in I thought putty and paint might do the job better. I am just going to try and make the putty look like part of the framework and see how I go from there.
If it looks crap, then it can go back into the shed

This is how I dealt with putty on the canopy:

Maybe you can do something similar, drape tarps, covers & stuff, maybe have some guys working on it in a mini diorama?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
