I don't know about anybody else but I'm always unsure as to what is the best book on a particular subject.  Multiple choices, poor reviews (usually not focused on the real details) and a tight budget usually lead to indecision and once I do buy, disappointment, all too often.

So, do people have any recommendations on the following topics? (preferrably with loads of detail on proposed/planned and unbuilt variants)

British aircraft development, pre and post wwii?

Specific British aicraft :

Hawker Hunter
TSR.2
Blackburn Buccaneer
Folland Gnat
Harrier
Canberra

Swift
Scimitar
Skyhawk
Phantom
F-111
F-15
F-16
F-18
F-101

Rick, You may want to check out Squadron/Signal Books @ www.squadron.com for Many of those Aircraft or Google Specialty Press for their Selection on those Subjects. Hope this Helps. Dan

Lots of options.  Though I note not all of your list includes British subjects.

Start with the British Secret Projects series.  Then there are the Crowood Aviation series.  I also find the old Wings of Fame and World Air Power Journal series good value.  There are lots of good books out there on the rest.
