Well it's not unknown to use the already designed undercarriage from another plane to save costs - the B-2 bomber uses Boeing 767 (or 7?7) undercarriage, the T-39 used F-100 undercarriage - why reinvent the wheel?

Saves lots and lots of money if you buy ready made parts right off the shelf. My fav example is the Horton 229 using B-24 landing gear, but that wasn't so much about money as it was about what was easily available.

Perhaps they're looking at growth variants and/or special-purpose derivatives where such would be useful.

Yes, but why such a complex landing gear, when you could get something off the shelf that's a lot more simple?

I would agree with Gary, the gear is available and I would imagine 'off-the-shelf'.  If you look at this photo of the prototype, it has similar but much lighter gear.

The main landing gear looks much closer to the components used on the Jaguar since it is fitted with dual wheels.

To me it looks like the wanted to keep the landing gear in the fuselage and out of the wings, but still needed to have a wide-enough as possible track width.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
