The loading/unloading situation is the principle reason for suggesting a high-wing one with a low floor. I wonder if it would be practical to make a square or rectangular -section one (like a giant Skyvan), which would allow suitably wide-track, fuselage-mounted undercarriage. It would probably have to be unpressurised.....

Now why does that sound familiar?

The words 'Blackburn' and 'Beverley' keep coming to mind.

Yes, but I had in mind something that would make a Beverley look positively svelte.... ;)

The Qatar C-17(s) look like civil ones..........  -_-
Nope, they have one painted in Qatar Airlines livery but its a standard C-17A and operated by the Qatar Amiri flight,
in other words the military.

That's why I wrote 'look like civil ones' and I added the smiley at the end............ <sigh>

I didn't think you could use the words 'Beverley' and 'svelte' in the same sentence...... -_-

Maybe it just folds backwards into the front of the cargo section? Or is that entire cargo pod detachable?
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

That looks like a 21st Century jet version of the Fairchild XC-120 Pack Plane!

Very nice though, where did you find it? As for the nosewheel, it looks mechanically impossible, then it is Russian..... ;)

I wonder what a C-47 Guppy would have looked like either with original radials or with a turboprop kit.        That and a Boeing 307 Stratoliner based Guppy.

Cheers,

Pyro': The cargo pod looks detachable. Maybe the nose gear retracted into the pod when attached, into the main body when no pod was attached?  :o

'Kit: I found the image on Secret Projects -- boxkite had added three different out-sized cargo projects from the Myasishchev OKB to his thread on the Saro Princess Guppy proposal.

The real Super Guppy has its roots in the B-29.
