Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, top notch, five stars,

Where are my kniting needles? :banghead:

You are the best, really.

BTW: you can sent  some pics to T.Buttler. This model is much better that the one in his book IMHO.
Will die without understanding this world.

Great work! That´s an aircraft I´ve always wanted to see modelled and you´ve done a great job on it.

Repeat in 1/48 please...  :D

This is the curse of speed;  I have been a slave to it all my life. On my gravestone they will carve 'It never got fast enough for me'.

What a marvelous model! And such a great idea! Hope you will be doing more great should-have-beens like this one!

That was just one of a large number Geoff built over the last few years. He has gone back to his modelling roots and is now scratch building ships again.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

I hadn't seen this build before, and it's gorgeous. I've wanted to try building the Aw169 since I saw it in BSP Fighters, but I don't think I'd be able to come close to this.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Not wishing to buck the trend, but the FD3 is fantastic.  More pics please?  ;D ;D

Well its been a few years since the AW169 was built, it wasnt that hard to scratch build, although a fair number of kits donated parts to create it.
The model is now safely enclosed in the Armstrong Whitworth Cabinet next to the original wooden display model illustrated in BSP:Fighters at the Midland Air Museum Coventry. (The What-If SIG also have a cabinet there maintained by OGL Martin H)

The FD-3 is a bit tatty now after the display circuit, although there should be photos on the site. Overscan actually discovered the original brochures in the PRO for most of the F.155T contenders which were a goldmine for the AW169 build, but highlighted a few major flaws with the FD-3 build - must get round one day to giving it another go and do it correctly.

Cheers

Seen this in the flesh, and it really is stunning. Great to see it here again, Geoff

Hope you didn't think I didn't like the AW169, it's lovely - very well done.  I must confess that, ever since I bought the Secret Projects Jet Fighters book the FD3 has struck me as being a particularly good looking jet.  It's the artwork on the dust jacket, I know.  I'm sure that if the beast had been built it'd have been a firm favourite amongst moodellers.   ;D ;D
