How about Blohm und Voss??
Yes! (that could be a source of pleasant asymmetry!) ;D
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

I can't see how I could introduce assymetrics with this project  :banghead: but I think this projekt will not be labelled Tank or Messerschmitt.

After intense reflexion, this Jäger-Projekt becomes Junkers Ju 314E "Tornado" (new Reichluftfahrtministerrium designation) and Junkers EF.157 (Junkers project designation).

If someone knows about a plane with the RLM-nummer 314 and/or about a Junkers EF.157, please tell me

8-314 was not allocated and the highest EF number I can find is EF 150.

Junkers Ju 314 "Tornado"

Design

Junkers Ju 314 is a fighter conceived in the end of 1940s by the German engineer Karsten Reiner in answer to a call of Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) for the conception of a modern fighter- interceptor that must equip the Luftwaffe.
Three manufacturers submitted projects : Messerschmitt (with Me P.1950), Daimler-Benz (with Projekt H) and Junkers (with the EF.157).
The first studies began in 1949 under the EF.157/IV project designation, a twin-engined fighter with high speed, equipped with two 30mm cannons. The EF.157/IV is designed around two jet engines, one placed over the other one, in order to reduce the frontal surface. Wings are drawn with a very pronounced arrow with their extremities perpendicular to the fuselage. Two vertical fins were installed on wings.
Rapidly, Messerschmitt's project was pushed aside, leaving Daimler-Benz and Junkers only in the run. Although more innovative and more successful, Daimler-Benz plane, the DB.45/II, was abandoned in favour of Junkers EF.157/VI, pilots and the RLM judging its piloting too sharp.
In 1950, RLM signed a contract for the construction of 3 prototypes of an experimental plane EF.157/VI. The design of EF.157/VI was the same that EF.157/IV, including the armament (consisted of 2 30 mm cannon) and a radar. The first one of these planes made his inaugural flight on October 8th, 1950, soon followed by the trial flights which revealed no particular problems, exception made by a defect of nozzles cooling. At the beginning of 1951, the RLM gave its agreement for the production of a preseries under the name of Ju 314A-0.
Drawn and studied as an interceptor with high speed, equipped with BMW 023 jet engines with afterburners and armed with two Mauser MG 230 30mm cannons, the prototype of the production version made its trial flight on July 23rd, 1951 and reached without problem the speed of Mach 1,2.

Production

The first operational version of "Tornado", was the Ju 314B, built to 47 copies, among which 28 Ju 314B-2 incorporating some modifications as the addition of a removable in-flight refuelling probe and an UHF radio. In 1953, the production tipped over on the Ju 314C-1 with a modified avionics (including a radar FuG 500 in the nose) and more powerful BMW 023B jet engines. The next year flew the first Ju 314C-2 with BMW 024 engines, new vertical fins enlarged by 15 %, and able to carry improved air-to-air missiles.
However, the Ju 314C-2 did not resolve the main problem of "Tornado", namely a very weak range. The only solution was to enlarge the lap reservoir which formed a bump under the fuselage, what gave birth in 1955 to the Ju 314E-1. This version also had new wings facilitating low speed flight. Only 16 copies of this version were built, to which it is necessary to add 14 Ju 314C-2 who were put in this standard. The final version, the Ju 314E-2, appeared in 1956 : it was simply about a Ju 314E-1 capable of taking 2 external fuel tanks fixed a top of the fuselage (and not down as usually).
Two trainer versions were realized: in 1953 appeared the Ju 314S-1 (equivalent to the Ju 314B-2) and in 1959 the Ju 314S-2 (which corresponded to the Ju 314E-2). The pupil and the instructor were placed side by side. Except for the suppression of the cannons, the two-seater kept all their operational capacities.

In service with the Luftwaffe

Luftwaffe received her first Junkers Ju 314B at the end of 1951. The 19 delivered planes were used for the trials of the plane and the training of the first pilots. The first squadron was declared operational in 1953. « Tornado » assured the defense of the air space of the 3rd Reich till the end of the Second World War, staying successful and maintained in the front line in spite of the appearance of more modern fighters. The device distinguished itself during the third battle of England, on the Mediterranean theatre of operations (in particular during the taking of Malta) and finally during the defense of Reich operations. The most significant version and especially the most important, the Ju 314E-3 remained in service from 1957 till 1965, and known a new life at the end of the hostilities.

Other operators

Long-time ally of Germany, Spain received in 1955 about ten Ju 314C-1 completed later by 23 Ju 314C-2 not modified by Luftwaffe.
Other major ally, Japan received 4 copies of the version Ju 314E-1, as well as the plans of the Ju 314D, locally built under the naming of Ki-314.
Switzerland, worried of maintaining her neutrality, ordered a dozen of the Ju 314E, which she received at the beginning of 1960.
Portugal received, on behalf of France and Netherlands, about twenty Ju 314E-3, that she used between 1965 and 1985.
Great Britain, the United States, the USSR, France and Netherlands used numerous Ju 314, mostly captured, to estimate their performances.
