As apart from Leviathon Battleships....

Thinking of all sorts here...

USN '30s with Yellow Wing Upper Surfaces?

Israeli 3-colour delta-wings?

I think I need to lie down in a darkened room, but I can see how this could develop....even more worryingly, I'm working on the tech aspects for making them...

Why not give it to somewhere really tiny like Monaco or Luxembourg? It could keep the rain off the whole country....

How about doing a Nimitz class CVN in flying mode?

You could always go for the multiple vertical propellors approach, as per Jules Verne:

Getting all the props might prove expensive, but my latest Found Objects discovery might provide an answer:

Great illustration....think Aether Screws ;D

Meanwhile, my "latest" which was to be a relatively "normal" battleship based on the 1/700 HobbyBoss Arizona, looks like gaining wings.

But the cost of building and operating these would be huge....so would keeping them morred or on the land. They'd have to be stationed near to the sea as their role would be as a deterrant, being able to blast any ship from the sea, yet huge enough to basically defeat any air assault.
So perhaps by 1939 the USA has only 5, the UK 2, and Japan 2.
France and Germany each have one, although the French is still under construction, but this is taken over by Germany, so the Nazis have "at least" 2 by 1941. Did they capture any Soviet ones?
It's believed the Soviets had 2 huge Flying Battleships WITH WINGS.

These all have WINGS of some description, and mine will at first be circular, but later could evolve into other shapes.

Colours.....

they'll be so damned big in the air, noisy too, so no point in trying to hide them. Therefore "bright", unless seeking camouflage on the ground, which could be interesting! A painted landscape on the uppersurfaces?
