Modern waterline aircraft carrier needed

Must be cheapish preferably.
Bigger boat the better, but nothing smaller than 1/700-ish. Modern USN would be therefore great.

Anyone do a waterline kit?
Is the full hull Revell bunch more suitable after butchery?

Remember, this is whatiffery so I don't want to mortgage the wife....on the other hand....I have a glove lol.

Pit-Road and Trumpeter both do US CVNs in 1/700 and they tend to be £££££, the Trump 1/350 are deliriously so.
Most of their kits are waterline or full hull.

Dragon did a couple of earlier US carriers.

The old Aurora 1/400 CVN 65 USS Enterprise, which has been re-released over the years by both Monogram and Revell Germany,
would probably be the best bang for the buck. Retail on the most recent US release was $59.95, I've seen it for less and it's
one to check for at model shows.

Hacking down a full hull is fairly easy once marked using the classic ship-modelling (and real boat-building BTW)

A fancy rig isn't necessary as just holding a pencil on top of a book or block of the needed thickness works as well.

Italeri & Revell do a selection of the USN CVNs in 1/720 scale, Forrestal Class, Improved Forrestals and Ninitz classes plus Revell do the Enterprise although not sure whats currently available. Dragon do the RN Invincible class although the prices appears to have skyrocketedover the last year or so.

If you want pretty, it's hard to go wrong with Pit-Road/Trumpter's Nimitz class in 1/700.  They came out pricey at $90-100 US, but I got 2 of them for 35 each off of e-bay within the last couple of months.  The Roosevelt seems to tbe the one everyone is trying to dump, so if you want an absolutely gorgeous kit, and at a price that may be neogitable, take a look for her.

There's also the Heller/Airfix carriers - Colossus/Arromanches, Clemenceau, etc. that are 1:400 IIRC and are a pretty nice size. I think there's a 1:600 Forrestal as well.

What about Airfix's Victorious? Obviously it's not as big as the USN ones, but then it is 1/600th scale not 1/700th, and most imporatantly, it has the bonkers Type 984 "bass drum" radar.....
