1/48 B-29 Ideas

I got a great deal on a 1/48 B-29, and (surprise) this model is large...anyone have any ideas how to Whif the wing span into something smaller? 

I was maybe thinking FSW like the Ju-287

You could always have a folded wing or perhaps cut it and use tandem wings both with engines or even cut it and make a Biplane...

Shorten the span (maybe two inches off each tip, three at the max), eliminate the outer engines, convert the inner engines to turbo-props ala the YC-97J and Super Guppies, and make it a proposal for a maritime patrol aircraft.

Monogram's B-29 that resides inside its box has been planned as a variation of the above:   Twin turboprops, extended wing with winglets, swept tailplane, turretless, NASA markings, and various macules and papules on the ventral enlarged bays.    WB-57 alternative.   Um... make that a non-alternative, but somewhat similar role, aircraft.   

Either that or 4 turboprops, stretch fuselage, Vietnam green/green/tan/black. etc.   (mentioned elsewhere a few years back)

Remember the old aircraft of different length discussion? Well, since a B-29 is basically the same in cross section for most of it's length (or atleast it looks that way to me, I might be wrong), why not shorten it greatly into a B-14.5 (that's half a B-29) - you could always say it's made from the remains of two damagede B-29s, one had the nose blown off, the other the tail, and this is all that was salvagable.

I wonder if a sea-plane version would be feasible?  Sculpt a boat hull on the bottom and add some wing floats.  Maybe move the wing to the top of the fuselage....hmmmm.....

Yes, but keep the four engines! You could claim a crippling lack of power plants lead to a plane being designed to fly on two-stroke lawn mower power plants!
